Often referred as a French Press or Plunger pot, this coffeemaker is the most elemental way of making coffee. It captures most of the oils found in the coffee bean to provide a rich-tasting, complex coffee. The French invented the press pot in approximately the 1850's. The first pots were metal, and functioned roughly like they do today pressing coffee grounds to the bottom of a metal pot, through a metal screen (or sometimes through a loosely woven material). In the 1930's, the Italians reinvented the French press pots, using first metal, and then glass. The pot has been refined over the years to the single-chambered French press pot we know today. Paired with a burr coffee grinder, you cannot go wrong. I switched from a Bunn coffee maker to this french press. Coffee now tastes as good as (or better than) any I can get at the best restaurants and coffee shops.
It is easy to clean, and makes great coffee. They really bring out the flavor in coffee. This press works very well. I thing french presses are wonderful.
The go to coffee press-creates an excellent cup of coffee- every coffee lover should own one and experience the bliss. Love it- a little more time consuming than our modern appliances-but at the same time a simplicity to it and of course the brew is always exceptional with this press.

It's a 12 pot which looks big when you take it out of the box and is great when you make coffee and want multiple cups. It won't stay warm long in this french press so we just drink it up. We love this french press coffee maker. The coffee is delicious.
